Santa beats the weather!
Despite the worst December weather for many years, Santa and his sleigh were able to complete their tour of the streets of Seaford during the run up to Christmas.
Snow, ice, wind and rain could not prevent the evening trips (no pun intended) from being completed although, due to the prevailing conditions, sometimes they ran a few minutes late.
Rotarians, family and friends undertook 17 evening tours and 4 static collections in Broad Street as a result of which a total of ?8,258.91 was collected. Despite the current economic conditions this is the highest total achieved over the past 50 odd years .
President John Owen said "The residents of Seaford have once again shown extreme generosity in difficult times but in so doing have given the Rotary Club the means to fulfil it's commitment to charities and community projects in the town. All monies collected during December will be spent locally. In addition to the collections it is anticipated that a further ?500.00 will be raised as a result of my Appeal Letter and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have so generously responded to it. Cheques are still coming in and a final total will be posted on the Club's website as soon as possible. I and the members of the Rotary Club of Seaford would like to also wish you all a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year."
