John Owen is installed as President of Rotary Club of Seaford
Rotarian John Owen was installed as the new President of the Rotary Club of Seaford at a social gathering of the Club attended by seventy members and partners.
John who lives at Mount Pleasant, Newhaven with his wife Ann recently retired from the Parker Pen Company having spent his entire working life with that firm.
John is the holder of a Paul Harris Award, Rotary?s highest honour, for services to the community.
Apart from his membership of Rotary, John Owen has for many years been involved with the Newhaven & Seaford Sea Cadet Corps having been its Commanding Officer and attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander (SCC) RNR. He has also been an active supporter of Newhaven Community Development Association, Searchlight Workshops and has been a Governor of Tideway School.
The new President?s hops for the year will be to continue to give ?Service above Self? by working closely with the local community in raising funds, supporting charities, and involving the Club in Help in Kind activities. The Club will also be supporting world humanitarian and disaster relief programmes. John?s chosen Charity is 'The Children of Chernobyl'.
