Donation to Seaford Gymnastics Academy

On Thursday 21st March, President Steve Willox and Jim Anderson from the Youth Committee attended a training session of Seaford Gymnastics Academy at Seahaven Academy.
They were not there to join Academy members with their gymnastic exertions but to present a £250 donation cheque to the Academy.
Seaford Gymnastics Academy was originally based in Newlands school, but when that facility closed, they moved to their current location. Although several members left the club when they moved, about 25% of the 100 strong membership is from Seaford. Members can attend 3 sessions run during the week. The rest of the club membership is made up of young persons from Newhaven, Peacehaven and other communities towards Brighton.
Members can join as 4 or 5 years old and continue their membership working towards attaining British Gymnastic Awards until they leave school. At present there is a waiting list of 70 to join the club.
President Steven Willox presented the donation cheque to Club member Keely Tant who has been a member of the Club for over 5 years.
The donation is to be used for the repair of the club’s inflatable tumble track and to replace some 12 year old gymnastic mats which are showing definite signs of their age.
The picture of the tumble track shows just how large it is and explains why it was not in use during our visit when there were not enough coaches present to manage inflating it and deflating and rolling it up for storage. Ii remains nevertheless an important piece of equipment on which the more advanced students train.
