Grand Raffle Prize Presentation

PRIZE winners of the Grand Charity Raffle were presented with their cheques on 18th October in a ceremony a Morrisons Superstore. The prizes were presented by the store manager Rob Knight.
THE last tickets for the Grand Charity Raffle were sold at the last Rotary Boot, Craft and Produce Fair of 2018 on Sunday 7th October. The counterfoils for these tickets were added to those sold earlier at previous Boot Fairs, those sold on 14th and 15th September in Morrisons and those sold directly by Rotarians and placed in the drum for drawing the winning tickets. The draw took place in Morrisons store on Tuesday 9th October.
Winner of the first prize of £200 was Joe Birch who had bought the ticket at the last Rotary Boot, Craft and Produce Fair of 2018 on Sunday 7th October for his wife. He said, ‘My wife was looking at the Rotary stall, and recognising a fellow member of Denton Bowling Club Rotarian Bill Pierce who was selling the raffle tickets. Although I have not played with him for four years, I went to chat to him, and ended up buying the ticket that turned out to be the winning ticket.’
Second prize of £100 was won by 88-year-old Mrs Cynthia Roberts, a formed dancer who said, ‘I have never won a thing in my life before’. Strangely on the day of the presentation she also learnt that ERNIE had selected one of her premium bonds in the October draw.
Third prize was won by Rotarian Keith Blackburn.
