Presidential Handover

EACH year at the end of June, Seaford Rotary Club changes its Club President.
On Saturday 30th June, Club members and their wives, partners and guests met at Seaford Golf Club to see outgoing President Mike Roper hand over the Presidential jewel of office to Steven Willox and to enjoy an Italian buffet.
After the dinner, the outgoing President gave his review of his year in office in which he said:
‘Last year the overall theme of Rotary International was “Making a Difference” and we have made a difference within our community. When I reflect on the achievements from my year I realise just how much effort, hard work, commitment and enthusiasm is given by our members.
By far the biggest change we implemented is our Business Partnership Scheme, with 40 local businesses now on board. I sincerely thank everyone involved in setting up this scheme.
We experienced records takings from our recent Car Boot, Craft and Produce Fairs, and ran our Charity Raffle in two supermarkets - Lidls and Morrisons. More change came when we took over the running of the town’s French and Italian Street Markets.
As your outgoing President I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your excellent support. Our Club is in very good shape and we have strong committees to take us forward into the new Rotary year. I feel immense pride for being your President during the year.’
Outgoing President Mike Roper handed over the Presidential chains of office to Steven Willox, President of the Rotary Club of Seaford for Rotary Year 2018/19 and hoped that he would have a wonderful year.
Incoming President Steven Willox said in his address ‘
It is a considerable honour for me to stand here in front of you as the next President of this wonderful club which has such a history of serving the community.
I look round this room and see so many people committed to help others by giving up their time and working hard on our activities, but I also see people who laugh together and enjoy the fellowship of completing tasks and events to a high standard. I look forward to another wonderful year for the Rotary Club of Seaford and our numbers getting closer or reaching 50 and for our Rotary to engage our motto "Service before Self".
