May Boot, Craft and Produce Fair

CLOUDLESS azure skies and unusually warm sunshine enticed 84 stallholders to the West Martello Field and greeted members of the pubic who attended the second Rotary Boot, Craft and Produce Fair of 2018 on the Sunday of the May Bank holiday weekend.
The consequence was that this Boot, Craft and Produce Fair was our best ever May fair and it is believed the number of stalls was the highest ever - but whether this is so cannot be stated with 100% certainty because earlier recording was not as detailed as today. Records appear to indicate that in August 2015 there were more than 80 stalls based on reported pitch fees but that is not an accurate method of counting. On Sunday 6th May, we had 84 paying stalls - confirmed by tickets issued and the cash count.
A great result.
We are grateful to the public were also very generous in providing a significant contribution to funds of just over £140 in our donation buckets. The Rotary Stall also generated a similar amount. The total income from the fair was just in excess of £1,000 which is our 2nd highest ever income - surpassed only by that from the August 2015 fair when we received £1015 which included a massive contribution of £261 in the donation buckets.
The money raised will be put to good use for local charitable causes.
Why so good? Obviously, the weather and being a bank holiday weekend were major factors.
Seaford Rotary would like to thank all those who attended, both stall holders and members of the public, and we hope to see you all again at the next Boot, Craft and Produce Fair to be held on Sunday 3rd June.
One interesting observation - whilst the pitch fees were being collected (between 9 and 10 30) several stallholders informed us that they had already had a successful morning.
