Grand Charity Raffle Draw and Prize Presentation

The draw for the Grand Charity Raffle took place on 17th October at Morrisons, Dane Road, when the winning tickets were drawn by Megan Kirwan, People Manager of Morrisons.
The sales of tickets in stores was slightly different this year from previous years. Due to a company policy change, Seaford Rotary Club was restricted to selling tickets only on a Friday and Saturday at Morrisons compared to the 5 days in previous years.
We were glad however to have the opportunity to sell tickets at the Lidl Newhaven store on four days, Monday to Thursday, immediately before the two days at Morrisons.
In the six days a total of 1604 tickets were sold at both stores, whereas last year 1498 tickets were bought.
Following a slow start, the selling of raffle tickets in stores finished on a high with 370 tickets being sold on Saturday 7th October. This is the highest daily total that Rotarian Tony Henley who organised the raffle, can recall for one any day since he joined the Club.
Taking account of tickets sales by Rotarians, including an amazing 210 tickets by Tony Osborne, ticket sales at Boot Fairs and donations, the total income was over £2100, slightly more than for 2016.
Seaford Rotary Club is grateful for the support of the Newhaven Rotary Club (with whom we will share the income and expenses) in manning the tickets sales at Lidl Newhaven. A total of 923 tickets were purchased at the Newhaven store.
Presentation of the prizes to the lucky holders of the winning tickets was made by Morrison’s Store Manager Rob Knight on 24th October.
The £500 first prize was presented to a delighted Mrs. T Manthorpe who had bought one ticket on the Friday in Morrisons. She is considering using the prize money to purchase a new lawn mower.
Second prize of £100 was presented to Ms. A. E. Smith, who had bought two tickets, one in Lidl and one in Morrisons, the latter of which proved to be the lucky ticket. Her prize will be used for a new pair of boots.
Both the first and second prize winners were also presented with a bouquet courtesy of Morrisons.
The third prize of £50 was won by Mr. P Crick.
