Safety in Action 2017: Best Team

FOLLOWING the presentation of the Best School award to Plumpton School in June, on 20th July President Mike Roper and Rotarians Mike Hemmings, Peter Posgate and Paul Vaesen went to Harbour Primary School in Newhaven to present the Best Team award.
Safety in Action took place at Newhaven Fort during the week starting 22nd May, where 789 children in year 6 from 27 primary schools took part. They were split into teams of up to 10 children to take part in 10 activities relating to safety. At each activity, the teams were given a score out of 20, depending on how well they understood and contributed to each one.
From these scores, the best team and the best school was determined from the average of all the teams from that school.
One of the teams from Harbour Primary School scored a brilliant 194 out of 200, and they were awarded a framed certificate by East Sussex Fire and Rescue, and the School also received a cheque from us. Congratulations to them!
